Dennis Duty
Broker/Owner
About Dennis
Born and raised on a Guest Ranch in Central Montana. Grew up with a hard work ethic and rural roots. Graduated from Hobson High School, went on to Montana State University with a degree in Business Management and Marketing. When the family ranch sold, Dennis and his wife Karen moved to the Flathead and Mission Valley to get started on a new life. Was hired by a privately held timber company to manage the ranching operations and determine properties that were better suited for home sites rather than cattle grazing.
After getting his real estate license and successfully marketing and selling building sites throughout the Mission Valley he moved his family to Sandpoint Idaho to help manage the real estate holdings of Pack River Management Company and Schweitzer Ski Area. In 1997, he moved his family back to Polson, Montana where he purchased and developed the property currently known as Mission Bay and Mission Bay Preserve. As the development started to take off, he and his partner Tim Hinderman, started the Mission Bay Real Estate company. For the past 20 years Mission Bay and Mission Bay Preserve have grown to include over 100 homes and nearly 300 building lots. Mission Bay Real Estate continues to list and sell homes and home sites in the community, but also lists and sells commercial properties, homes and home sites, and farm and ranch lands primarily in Lake County.
Dennis and Karen have 3 adult daughters and 7 grandchildren.

About Jan
Jan has worked in the office in Mission Bay since April 2000. As information Coordinator, she has greeted clients and homeowners for the past 18 years when Mission Bay was just building it’s first phases of development. She is very proud to work for an organization that had a vision for a first-class neighborhood and has carried out that vision to the amazingly beautiful development you see today. She now works in the office part-time and spends much of her time taking photographs of the homes and properties offered by Mission Bay Real Estate, as well as most of the beautiful landscape photos you see on this site and the brochures and publications we offer.
Jan grew up in Seattle and has lived in Alaska and Hawaii before settling in Montana where her mother’s family now lives. Her grandparents came to Polson in 1922 from far off Russia and Sweden where they started a fox farm and a small ranch. Coming here in summers as a kid, Jan has loved Montana her whole life and decided to move here permanently in 1985.
Jan spends her free time traveling around northwest Montana taking photographs of the amazing landscape as well as wild animals and birds wherever she finds them. When not doing that, she loves staying home in her log cabin overlooking Flathead Lake with her dog, Jazzi, enjoying the peaceful tranquility that surrounds her. Reading books on her porch swing is one of her favorite things. She recently bought a restored vintage travel trailer with which she plans to explore the Montana backroads and a drone for adding to her photography skills and looking for bears and other wildlife on her property! Jan has one daughter who lives in Nashville and 4 grandchildren scattered around the country.
